Flying to Salzburg

SalzburgSalzburg W.A Mozart Airport is located just four kilometres from the city centre, it has scheduled flights to the larger European cities and excellent connections to the hubs in Frankfurt, Vienna, London, Zurich and Palma de Majorca.

Travel by plane and train to Salzburg

OBB RailThe significant train routes around mainland Europe can make your travel to Salzburg even easier. For example you can fly to Munich and then catch a train from the airport to Salzburg in an hour and a half.  For train options to Salzburg please visit http://www.oebb.at/en/

 

Getting around Salzburg

Airport Services –Taxis A taxi stand can be found both directly in front of Salzburg main railway station and the airport terminal taking you directly to the check-in desks. Transfer from the airport to the railway station is approx.15-20 minutes. It is not necessary to take the motorway when taking a taxi to/from the railway station.

Airport Services – travelling by bus Public buses go at regular intervals between Salzburg Airport and Salzburg main railway station.

Bus connections Salzburg city Tickets are available at the "Newscorner" in the airport terminal or with the bus driver. Public bus lines 2 and 27:

  • The bus line no 2 goes daily every 10/20 minutes between Salzburg main railway station and the airport. Sundays and public holidays every 20 min. Journey time approx. 20 min.
  • The bus line no 27 goes daily every 15/20 minutes from the airport via Wals/Viehhausen to the railway station. Journey time approx. 40 min.

Costs: single ticket € 2.30, children € 1.60.

Train From Salzburg "Hauptbahnhof" main railway station you are 15-20 minutes away from the airport and many tourist resorts such as Zell am See, St. Johann, Altenmarkt, Radstadt, Bad Gastein, Kitzbühel, Schladming etc are only a short journey away.
