Aimée Turner and Peter King receive ERA awards
Aimée Turner, Editor, Air Traffic Management, has been awarded the ERA Hank McGonagle Journalism Award 2011/12 for her article Space Odyssey - an in-depth analysis of how attempts to manage the forecast boom in air traffic safety, while driving down costs, is encouraging Europe to adopt satellite-based data exchange.

Widerøe's Flyveselskap clinched the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) Airline of the Year Gold Award 2012/13. The Norwegian carrier has previously won Silver three times (2001, 2002 and 2011) and Bronze in 2008.
The award was announced at the Convention Centre Dublin on September 20 during a prestigious Awards Dinner which formed part of the Association's annual General Assembly event. Widerøe's CEO, Lars Kobberstad was presented with the trophy by Filippo Bagnato, CEO of Award sponsor ATR.

Christine Ourmières, CEO of Irish carrier CityJet, has been elected by members onto the Board of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA). Christine is only the second female Airline President to be elected to the ERA Board in the Association's 32-year history.

Three Resolutions, agreed by members of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) at today's AGM held on Friday 21 September in Dublin, raise serious concerns about the planned introduction of technological solutions for the screening of Liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) in cabin baggage, the lack of progress in the implementation of the Single European Sky Project and the need to encourage the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to expedite plans to reduce the aggregate costs of regulation to industry.

After more than 25 years as the head of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), Director General, Mike Ambrose is to retire at the end of 2012. The recommendation of a committee* appointed by the ERA Board to find a successor was accepted by the ERA Board at its meeting yesterday in Venice. The Board agreed that Simon McNamara, currently Ambrose's deputy, would take up the post from the beginning of 2013. |
