The ERA Airport Achievement Award recognises the ERA airport member which, in the opinion of the judges, has achieved the greatest positive impact on its intra-European airline customers. The Award also aims to promote excellence and encourage industry best practice through the spirit of airline-airport partnerships.
Judging criteria ERA airport members are diverse in size and operating environment. The criteria of the Airport Achievement Award are therefore based on specific achievements which are assessed in the context of an airport's size, nature of business and operating conditions. So, for example, the innovative application of EUR 10,000 for a small 'regional' airport may be a much bigger achievement, in context, than a multi-million Euro investment in a new terminal made by a much larger airport with more spending power.
Each airport's achievements are therefore judged on their own merits rather than directly compared to the achievements of other airports whose size and operating conditions may be quite different. In this way, the Airport Achievement Award is accessible to all airport members regardless of their individual circumstances.
What is an achievement? An achievement may cover any aspect of an Airport's business. Entrants are required to submit a document outlining the achievement attained and including quantifying material, together with background information on the airport itself so that the achievement(s) can be evaluated in context.
Judging procedure The ability to assess the range of achievements airports may choose to submit, and to do so in context and without bias, requires not only thorough industry knowledge and experience but also the ability to engage a broad outlook. The ERA Airport Achievement Award is therefore judged by a panel of independent past Airline Presidents who not only have the necessary qualities to fulfil this role, but they also represent a key airport customer - the airline.
How to enter Entry to the ERA Airport Achievement Award is open to ERA Airport members only, and is entirely free of charge. Entries must be submitted on the official ERA Airport Achievement Entry Form which will be despatched to all Airport Members around Easter time 2009. The winner will be announced at the ERA General Assembly Awards Dinner at Interlaken, Switzerland on 8 October 2009.
