The ERA Hank McGonagle Journalism Award is presented annually for excellent, accurate and discerning reporting on topical issues related to the intra-European air transport industry. It recognises the important role played by the media in influencing the framework for the development of intra-European air transport, and in highlighting its economic and social importance.
Award Criteria The ERA Hank McGonagle Journalism Award is open to trade or non-trade media, in print or web-based formats. The winner gains international media coverage benefiting from recognition of their work and the raised profile that this entails. They will also see their name published in ERA’s Regional International publication and the winning article will appear on the ERA website.
How to Enter Entries can either be submitted by the journalist or selected by the ERA Directorate. If you wish to submit an entry for the 2009/10 Award, you may do so at any time up until 14 August 2009. Articles must have been published between 1 August 2008 and 31 July 2009. The ERA Directorate will also monitor articles published in trade and non-trade press between these dates and may select additional entries for consideration by the judges.

Hank McGonagle and GE Aviation GE Aviation has been the sponsor of the media facilities at the ERA General Assembly for more than 15 years. Hank McGonagle was the principal advocate behind this sponsorship and it is for this reason that the award is honoured in his name.
