Palme d'Or 2007 Antonis Simigdalas, Dimitris Gerogiannis & Theo Vassilakis, Aegean Airlines |
Palme d’Or HonoursIn any particular year, a special Honour: the Palme d’Or for Sustained Excellence, may be awarded to an airline or airport that, in the view of the judges, has demonstrated significant achievements over a number of years.
It is a new distinction intended to recognise the consistency of performance and sustained excellence of individual airlines and airports over an extended period as well as their long-term support for ERA's activities on behalf of the industry. The ERA Palme d'Or is granted rather than won and an airline or airport which has been accorded the Honour retains it in perpetuity.
The Honour is separate from the ERA annual Awards Programme, which includes the Airline of the Year and Airport Achievement Awards which are based on outstanding performance in the preceding 12-month period. However, consideration for eligibility for the prestigious and exclusive ERA Palme d’Or, will be open only to airlines and airports which have previously entered the Awards programme.
Holders of the Palme d’Or will be able to describe themselves as: “An ERA Palme d’Or airline (or airport): for sustained excellence.”
