How to get there

Barcelona Airport is located approximately 18 kms south-west of the city of Barcelona, between the city limits of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi  and is well served by airlines across Europe.

The airport train station is situated opposite T2, and is connected to this terminal via an airbridge.  The journey to Barcelona Sants is around 19 minutes and trains run every 30 minutes.  There is also a Bustransit service between the Renfe station and T1.

Getting around Barcelona

Metro
Barcelona has a clean, punctual, air-conditioned metro system that will take you to most of the major sites. The metro is especially useful in the summer when it can be quite hot to walk everywhere. For more information on the metro, please visit http://www.tmb.cat/en_US/home.jsp

Buses
There's also a clean and efficient bus service that serves Barcelona centre. To get more information on this service visit any tourist information centre for further details. Or visit the official TMB website for more information http://www.tmb.cat/en_US/home.jsp

Barcelona Card
The transport ticket you choose to buy depends on how many journeys you intend to make. If you don't want to be concerned with buying travel tickets and you want a ticket that gives you unlimited number of journeys during your stay then it is worth considering the Barcelona Card. The Barcelona card also entitles you to discounts off attraction entrance fees, shows, restaurants and souvenir shopping as well.

T10 Transport Ticket
A T10 ticket will give you 10 journeys on the metro, FGC (FGC operate train lines similar to the metro around the city centre) buses, tram and RENFE all Zone 1 areas. The main city centre areas are all in Zone 1. T10 is valid indefinitely within a calendar year (however the card will expire one month after the new tariffs are released in January each year) and can be shared with other members of your group. Note to use the T10 for each person you have to put the card in the machine and then pull it out completely from the ticket validation machine - this will release the turnstile to allow you through. Leave the card on the machine for the next member of your group to use the T10. Each time someone in your group uses the T10 it counts as a separate journey.

Taxis
Taxis are an affordable alternative to public transport. A 15 minute journey will only cost about 10 Euros. Licensed Taxis have to charge you the amount displayed on the meter. However if you are carrying extra luggage there may be a small surcharge. Rates will be displayed inside the cab.
