CIRRUS AIRLINES JOINS ERA
16/02/2006
Scheduled German carrier Cirrus Airlines has joined the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) as part of its strategy for expansion.
Headquartered in Saarbrücken, the Lufthansa partner already operates an extensive network throughout Germany, and to destinations in the UK, Denmark, Switzerland, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova and the Czech Republic. The airline believes, however, that the expertise and opportunities offered by the Association and its influence among the European regulatory bodies are key factors to building upon Cirrus’ success and strengthening its plans for route development to additional east European destinations.
Cirrus Airlines’ Managing Director, David Miers, said:
"We are delighted about becoming ERA members as we feel that this is an excellent forum for exchanging views, ideas and experiences concerning all aviation related issues with our industry colleagues. We also hope that our ERA membership will facilitate the establishment of new relationships as well as provide us with a 'meeting place' for strengthening and intensifying existing relationships."
ERA Director General, Mike Ambrose said:
“We extend a warm welcome to Cirrus Airlines, whose enthusiasm and eagerness to participate in ERA’s activities will enable them to capitalise on the timely information they will obtain from ERA on the opportunities and issues arising in Europe. Like other ERA members in Germany, Cirrus Airlines will be well placed to take advantage of the new common aviation agreement between the European Union and markets in the Balkan States.”
Founded in 1995, Cirrus Airlines employs over 650 people and operates a mixed jet and turboprop fleet including 1 Boeing 737-500, 1 Embraer 170, 2 Embraer 145, 8 Bombardier Dash 8, 6 Dornier 328 Turboprop and 2 Dornier 328JET.
