ERA ISSUES ‘BETTER REGULATION’ GUIDELINES

20/09/2006

The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is today issuing a set of step-by-step guidelines to help the aviation industry put the European Commission’s ‘Better Regulation’ principles into practice.

Complementing the publication of the guidelines, ERA director general Mike Ambrose spoke today at the European Commission’s ‘Conference on the Future of Aviation Regulation in Europe’ in Brussels on the subject of ‘Better Regulation’.

Ambrose outlined ERA’s conviction that the EC’s desire to improve the European Union’s lawmaking and regulatory processes is admirable and must be supported to ensure the theory of ‘better regulation’ becomes reality.

Ambrose says: “Nobody gains when poor legislation has to be redrafted or, even worse, implemented. We must work to ensure that rules and regulations are correct from the very beginning. ERA’s new ‘Better Regulation’ guidelines support that goal by defining simple, practical steps, using normal business procedures, that should be followed by all regulators and service providers.”
