ERA WELCOMES MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES INTO MEMBERSHIP
17/10/2007
The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is delighted to welcome Japanese aircraft manufacturer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) into membership of the Association.
Based in Tokyo, Japan, MHI is developing the Mitsubishi Regional Jet family of aircraft due to enter service in 2013. MHI has extensive experience in the manufacture and development of both military and commercial aircraft. The new regional jets make strong use of the skills that the company has progressively developed, especially in the field of manufacture and use of composite materials.
MHI’s Management said: “MHI has decided to begin offering our MRJ to potential customer airlines worldwide. We believe ERA is an association for us to be able to exchange information, to better understand our potential customers and we are honoured to be part of such an association.”
Mike Ambrose, Director General, ERA adds: “Mitsubishi is the second aircraft manufacturer to join ERA in the last 12 months and its application for membership is a clear indication that aircraft manufacturers believe that the European air transport market offers substantial new opportunities.”
