The work of the air safety group makes a real contribution to aviation safety. The principal focus and objective of the group is to improve the safety of our members operations and to provide an environment for members to share and discuss their own safety experiences as well as learn about developments and trends in safety related issues. This pro-active group of dedicated member representatives meets on average three times a year and promotes a positive and proactive culture for aviation safety.
Who should attend? Representatives from member companies directly involved in air safety issues.
What does it cost to attend? Meetings are free to attend for any representative from an ERA member company

What did the group achieve in 2016? The Air Safety Group coordinated briefings on numerous safety issues including medical/psychological assessment for flight crew, conflict zones, cyber security, passenger behaviour during evacuations, occurrence reporting, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and Anti-Icing Holdover Times (HOT). In addition guidance documentation was published detailing the role and training of the Airline Safety Manager.
Is the meeting restricted? The meeting is open to all members, however a closed session is held for airline members and OEM aircraft manufacturer safety or investigation experts only on the second day of meetings for the safety information disclosure session. At the discretion of the chairman, additional member safety experts can be invited to this closed session.
