ERA WELCOMES AEROFLOT-NORD
18/12/2006
The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is delighted to welcome Russian carrier Aeroflot-Nord to the association.
Based in Arkhangelsk, the airline operates both scheduled and charter services. The carrier flies a fleet of Tupolev Tu-134, Tupolev Tu-154, Antonov An-24, Antonov An-26 and Boeing 737-500 aircraft. Aeroflot-Nord is 51% owned by Aeroflot.
Evgeniy B. Mironov, Aeroflot-Nord’s deputy director general on strategic and corporative development, says: “Aeroflot-Nord is delighted to be a member of ERA. We have strategic views to expand our business to the west and believe ERA can play a significant role in that process.”
ERA director general Mike Ambrose adds: “We strongly welcome Aeroflot-Nord to the association. The move demonstrates that Aeroflot-Nord’s executive management recognise the inevitability of stronger and more mutually-constructive air transport links to the ECAC and EU member states. Aeroflot-Nord’s membership echoes the decision of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company to join ERA earlier this year. Greater Russian involvement in ERA, and by extension the European air transport community, can only be a good thing.”
NOTES FOR EDITORS Founded in 1980, ERA is the recognised representative body for intra-European air transport. It currently represents 65 airlines and over 140 Associate and Affiliate members, including airframe and engine manufacturers, airports, suppliers and service providers from all over Europe.
