European Tourism Manifesto events held on 29 June 2022

13 July 2022: The supporting organisations of the Tourism Manifesto met in Brussels on 29th June to discuss the future of the alliance. The purpose of the Working meeting was to discuss proposals for the future modus operandi of the alliance – including the establishment of a Strategy group that will discuss the short and long term priorities of the alliance ad-hoc working-groups led by volunteers to drive the implementation of the activities – and policy actions for the future.

The meeting was followed by a networking event to celebrate the reopening of travel at the European Parliament. The evening reception was hosted by MEP István Ujhelyi and gathered important policy makers from the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the Committee of the Regions.

18 May 2022: ERA together with other associations part of the Tourism Manifesto alliance, issued a joint position paper supporting the extension of the EUDCC Regulation and calling for a fully-fledged person-based approach.

Two months ago, the Tourism Manifesto alliance issued a position paper welcoming the European Commission’s proposal that amends and extends the use of the EU Digital COVID Certificate (EUDCC) to facilitate free movement during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this position paper, ERA together with other EU associations proposed several amendments to improve the Regulation to guarantee harmonised rules when EUDCC is in use.

We have decided to reiterate our messages from the last position paper given that this file is still being discussed by policymakers and call for the White List to be discontinued, moving fully to a person-based approach.
